This Konek3Rio module was prepared by the on-going UNDP-GEF assisted project entitled "Strengthening Coordination for Effective Environmental Management (STREEM)". The STREEM project aims to improve the coordination among focal point agencies (FPAs) of the three multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs), namely: United Nations Convention on Biodiversity (UNCBD), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) collectively known as the Rio Conventions.

Guidebook on Project Cycle Management for Sustainable Development (PCMSD)

This guidebook integrates sustainable development (SD) concepts, principles and philosophies from the project preparation phase to project evaluation. It is intended to capacitate project evaluators, managers, and implementers with sets of tools and methodologies appropriate in each stage of the cycle with the hope of developing and managing SD programs and projects that are consistent with SD principles.

Capacity Enhancement for the Global Environment : The CHANGE Report - November 2006

This report, CHANGE (Capacity EnHANcement for the Global Environment), is the abridged version of the full NCSA document. It briefly describes the NCSA process in the Philippines, the capacity needs to meet the country's obligations to UNCBD, UNCCD, and UNFCCC, and the action agenda to address these capacity needs. This report hopes to stimulate awareness among a wider range of stakeholders and motivate actions among decision makers from various sectors to sustain the global environment though capacity enhancement.

Bamboo Research and Development Project

The dwindling supply of timber resources has become a nationwide problem in the Philippines that alternative materials have to be developed. Bamboo has been considered an ideal substitute because of its many uses and marketability as wood, and it is a suitable reforestation species that could provide both livelihood and environmental protection in the upland communities and watershed areas. It was for this reason that the Philippine Government requested for the implementation of the Bamboo Research and Development Project.

Philippines' Wealth Creation Programme from Biodiversity Resources: Economic Valuation Component

 
This study provides initial estimates of the foregone and/or potential monetary benefits from genetic resources that have commercial potential specifically to :

  1. Assess the forgone monetary benefits of bio-pirated species in the country;
  2. List genetic researches in advance stage with commercialization potential;
  3. Assess the potential monetary benefits of these genetic reseachs with commercialization potential;
  4. Know the posibble interventions needed for a fair and equiale bnefit sharing scheme and protocol.
