FASPs LGIS database brings together insight from experiences, specifically the Lessons Learned, Good Practices, Innovations, and Success Stories, during project implementation that can be considered in improving implementation of other projects, policy formulation/re-formulation and future project development, and decision-making.

 

Cold Chain Innovation Hub

In support to the objectives of the Global Partnership for Improving the Food Cold Chain (FCC) in the Philippines Project to identify, develop and stimulate the application of low-carbon, energy efficient refrigeration innovation technologies and business practices for use throughout the food cold chain whilst increasing food safety and security, the FCC Project established the Cold Chain Innovation (CCI) Hub, which is a technology center hosted by the Philippines’ Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) at its Regional Training Center in Taguig City, Metro Manila.

Commercial Forestry Investment Sub-Projects for upland watersheds: constraints, improvement strategies and extension in the Philippines

Upland watersheds in many developing countries are degrading and their health is declining due to various natural, socioeconomic, and environmental factors. Upland watersheds in the Philippines are no exception as they face problems of growing population that puts increasing pressure on timber and forest resources and food production systems. Effective land use systems that enhance productivity, ensures food security, increase livelihood income, improve ecological outcomes, and maintain social acceptance are needed.

Evidence-Based Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) Scheme to Preserve Water Resources through the Protect Wildlife Project

Mount Mantalingahan Protected Landscape (MMPL) provides different ecosystem goods and services, such as water supply, to more than 172,000 residents surrounding it, for household use, as well as to farms and plantations for crop irrigation. There are three (3) major watersheds inside MMPL wherein the LGU-managed water works in Brookes Point, Palawan relies for water sources.

Since the issuance of Presidential Decree 705 (Forestry Reform Code) in 1975, the Department in collaboration with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) of the Department of Agriculture (DA) have made joint and separate policies towards corrective action (i.e. Administrative Orders and General & Joint Memorandum Orders) in the management of abandoned, undeveloped, and underutilized (AUU) ponds.

Maintaining a Record of Time and Motion for Waste Collection

Pursuant to the guidelines on the development/management of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in support of the establishment of MPA Networks (MPANs) under Technical Bulletin No. 2017-06 of the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Management Program (CMEMP), the foreign-assisted initiative titled ‘Strengthening the Marine Protected Areas to Conserve Marine Key Biodiversity Areas in the Philippines’ or SMARTSEAS PH project aimed to address inadequate biogeographic representation and spatial coverage of MPAs, specifically to scale-up MPAs to MPA Networks and strengthen its management effectiveness.

Modeling Future Scenarios of Forest Cover in Selected Upper River Basins in the Philippines for 2025 and 2035

The Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management Project or INREMP of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) aims to improve the forest cover of the four watersheds in the country and at the same time provide livelihood opportunities to different communities in these areas. However, the success of the current effort should not only be assessed by its current contribution but also through its potential future impacts in the area.

Partnership Between Private Sector and the Government Showcasing the Mutualism Between Organic Farming and Beekeeping for the Recovery of Bee Colonies and Capacity Building for the Project’s Beneficiaries

During the project implementation, the project management experienced sudden decrease in numbers of bee hives being maintained due to infestation of weevil sp. Out of 520 beehives being maintained by the stakeholders / people’s organizations (POs), only 84 remained in good condition. The project management decided to pull-out the remaining bee hives from the stakeholders / people’s organizations and placed the same inside an organic farm, which is privately owned by Green Solution Agricultural Farming Training Center (GSAFTC), which served the bee hives recovery facility.
