PROFOR

The Program on Forests (PROFOR) Study on “The Role of Forests in Reducing Poverty and Enhancing Climate Resilience” is a study of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) with support from the World Bank (WB). It aims to enhance understanding of how forests and the ecosystem services they provide contribute and mutually

reinforce both poverty reduction and resilience in the Philippines. To achieve this, the study will be focused on measuring and valuing ecosystem services, specically provisioning and regulating ecosystem services, as a component of natural capital accounting. By applying approaches for capturing the economic contribution of both provisioning and regulating ecosystem services of forests, the study will provide the evidence to support the joint strategic focus on building resilience of the poor through sustainable management of forests.
