Subproject Completion Report:Capalonga Mangrove Rehabilitation Subproject

With the implementation of the Forestry Sector Project (FSP) using Community-based Forest Management (CBFM) as its main strategy to rehabilitate the mangrove ecosystem, it empowered beneficiary communities economically, socially, technically and politically while transforming them into environmentally responsible managers. The tenurial right to develop subproject sites alongside the various inputs from the Subproject deepened their commitment to collaborate with other stakeholders in the implementation of these subprojects.

Subproject Completion Report: Bayog Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject

The Bayog Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject in Zamboanga del Sur covers 11 barangays within the Municipality of Bayog. Sibugay River which is responsible for irrigating farmlands of Sibugay Province and Zamboanga del Sur is also within the Subproject site. The implementation of the Comprehensive Site Development (CSD) activities of the project stand out among other components as it manifests the People’s Organization’s zeal and commitment to go beyond targets and work for the success of the Project.

Subproject Completion Report: Balog-Balog Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject

The Balog-Balog Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject which covers a total area of 2,700 hectares is located in Tarlac Province specifically within Sitios Dirita and Tangan-Tangan, in Barangay Maamot, Municipality of San Jose. The watershed’s rehabilitation was given importance to restore its productivity and economic potential and also in the light of the Subproject’s impact on water production should the proposed Multi-purpose Dam in the lower catchment area of the watershed push through.

Subproject Completion Report of Sapangbato Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject

The Sapangbato Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject of the Forestry Sector Project is one of the many reforestation projects of the government that adopt the concept of Community-based Forest Management Program (CBFMP). Its implementation played several key roles in the socio-economic development and environmental protection of the locality, which includes production of water for irrigation of prime agricultural land for crop production, maintenance of a protection forest, and provision of livelihood opportunities for Indigenous People and upland dwellers.

Final Project Report of the Fifth Operational Phase of the GEF - Small Grants Programme in the Phlippines

To contribute to overcoming the threats of habitat destruction and land-use change owing to destructive fishing and farming practices, overexploitation of valuable species and pollution, SGP-5 in the Philippines supported local people’s organizations, NGOs and community-based organizations in designing and implementing projects to contribute to global biodiversity conservation using the landscape approach and modeling and implementation of best practices.
