Joint Terminal Evaluation Report for the Project on Establishment of Ecological Solid Waste Management System in Three Cities in the Philippines

This report was the result of the terminal evaluation mission of the Establishment of Ecological Solid Waste Management System in Three Cities in the Philippines Project . Evaluation by five evaluation criteria nemely, (a) relevance, (b) Effectiveness, (c) efficiency, (d) impact and (e) sustainability were used in the mission. Results, conclusion, recomendations and lessons learned were presented.

Project Completion Report of Integrated Forest Protection Pilot Project-B, Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan

Subproject Completion Report: STAGBAK Mangrove Rehabilitation Subproject

The STAGBAK Mangrove Subproject covers Barangays Sta. Lourdes, Tagburos, Bacungan and Kamuning, all on the southeast border of Palawan and involves a total of 1,861.28 hectares. Rehabilitation of these areas had to be initiated to arrest its deteriorating condition brought about land conversion activities in some portions. Add to this the fact that Palawan, renowned as the last frontier, has one of the most picturesque sceneries in the country and therefore has a significant role in tourism.

Subproject Completion Report: Ubay-Mabini –Alicia Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject

Ubay-Mabini –Alicia Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject is located in the municipalities of Ubay, Mabini and Alicia, Bohol. This is a part of the most important watershed in the province of Bohol. It provides water supply for the domestic needs of the nearby municipalities and its barangays and supports two dam structures of the National Irrigation Administration. These two dams supports the irrigation needs of thousands of hectares of rice fields downstream.

Subproject Completion Report: Sisay-Datu Tumanggong Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject

The Sisay-Datu Tumanggong Watershed Subproject covers Barangays Sisay and Datu Tumanggong of Tungawan Municipality, Province of Zamboanga del Sur. It serves the irrigation requirements of the southern barangays of Tungawan Municipality as well as supports the Sto. Nino and Gulinan Dams for agricultural and domestic needs of downstream communities.

Subproject Completion Report: Sicopong Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject

Sicopong Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject is located in Barangays Pal-ew and Sto Nino of Tanjay City and Barangay Sab-ahan of Bais City, Negros Oriental. The subproject covers one third of the whole Sicopong Watershed which plays an important role in the economic and sustainable development of the whole province.

Subproject Completion Report: Saug Watershed Subproject

The Saug Watershed Subproject which covers a total area of 2,903.00 hectares is located within Compostela Valley and Davao del Norte in Region XI. More than 10,000 hectares of irrigable ricelands in the municipalities of Nabunturan, COMVAL and New Corella and Montevista are dependent on the water channels originating from these upland areas. Agricultural production however had been plagued by destruction of crops caused oftentimes by massive flooding because of the Saug Watershed deforestation .

Subproject Completion Report: San Roque Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject

The San Roque Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject is located in the Municipality of San Nicolas, Pangasinan and plays a crucial role as it complements the San Roque Multi-Purpose Dam responsible for generating hydroelectric power and irrigating rice fields of Pangasinan. The San Roque Multi-Purpose dam is the biggest in Asia and 11th in the world.

The San Felipe Watershed Management Inc. (SAFEWATER), one of two people’s organizations established in 1997, entered into a contract with the DENR to rehabilitate the San Nicolas side of the watershed.

Subproject Completion Report: Pulangui Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject

The Pulangui Watershed Subproject which lies between the provinces of Bukidnon and North Cotabato covers a total of 5,095 hectares within the Pulangui River Basin. Rehabilitation of the Watershed is essential since it is also the major source of water of the NIA Lumbayao Dam in Valencia, Bukidnon, servicing downstream ricelands and likewise the major source of drinking water in the community.

Subproject Completion Report: Palompon Mangrove Rehabilitation Subproject

The Palompon Mangrove Rehabilitation Subproject site is located in the municipality of Palompon, province of Leyte within Barangays Cruz, Plaridel, Baguinbin, Cangcosme, Dulhugan, Cantoha-on and Mazawalo. The Subproject’s implementation has been geared towards the restoration of the area into its former state when its mangrove forest used to be a bird sanctuary and its fishery resources abundant. Indiscriminate cutting of the forest however led to the degradation of the area along with the dwindling of its fishery resources.
