Establishment of Kalanguya Community Museum in Mt Pulag NP: Results of a Preliminary Archeological Assessment in Brgy Tawangan, Kabayan, Benguet

This report is based on the preliminary archaeological assessment of Barangay Tawangan of the Municipality of Kabayan in the Province of Benguet on November 9- 13, 1998. The rapid archaeological assessment was commissioned to the writers by the National Integrated Protected Areas Programme (NIPAP) in the framework of its livelihood component and in support of a people-driven initiative aimed at establishing a community museum at the periphery of the Mount Pulag National Park. Participatory Coastal Resource Assessment: a Handbook for Community Workers and Coastal Resource Managers

This handbook has been developed to help integrate the knowledge of local coastal resource users with the understanding of scientific experts and thus maximize the effectiveness of integrated coastal resource management projects. It is based on work and research conducted by the authors in the Philippines and other countries in relation to various coastal resource management. It is also based on lessons from the implementation of participatory coastal resource assessment in San Vicente, Palawan and other areas as part of the Coastal Resource Management Project.

The Values of Philippine Coastal Resources: why Protection and Management are Critical

This book is a reference to assists in managing our coastal resources. Relevant information can be accessed from this boon on (1)resource valuation methods, (2) the valuation of uses of coral reefs, (3)the valuation of mangrove forests and habitats, (4)the valuation of fisheries to the Philippines and the (5) valuation of water quality. The economic justification for applying integrated forms of management to the problem of coastal degradation is also presented.

1997 Annual Report of Foreign Assisted Projects

For the year 1997, the DENR garnered a very satisfactory rating in the packaging as well as implementation of ODA or Foreign Assisted Projects/Programs (FAPs). During the year, it was able to complete the packaging and negotiation of grant agreements for twelve (12) projects with an estimated total cost of P 400 million. Of the twelve projects, two (2) are focused the blue sector, seven (7) on the brown sector and three (3) on the green sector. These figures manifest an increase in the attention being accorded to the brown environment.

Guidebook on Project Cycle Management for Sustainable Development (PCMSD)

This guidebook integrates sustainable development (SD) concepts, principles and philosophies from the project preparation phase to project evaluation. It is intended to capacitate project evaluators, managers, and implementers with sets of tools and methodologies appropriate in each stage of the cycle with the hope of developing and managing SD programs and projects that are consistent with SD principles.
