Allah Valley Watershed Development Project (AVWDP)
The Allah Valley Watershed Development Project, a component agency of the National Irrigation Administration-Allah River Irrigation Project (NIA-ARIP) embraces a total area of 102,350 hectares located within the municipality of Lake Sebu, Surallah and T’boli in the province of South Cotabato and the municipality of Bagumbayan in the province of Sultan Kudarat. The Project objective was to rehabilitate the critical watershed area so as to enhance the viability of the irrigation project. In its full development, the Project has improved the overall ecological and socio-economic condition of the communities within the watershed area. The once denuded Forest lands within the Project area are now turning green with the soil regaining its lost fertility. The increased water supply contributed by the forested uplands enables the NIA-ARIP to irrigate more or less 16,000 hectares ricefields in the provinces of South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat, consequently increasing rice production.
