The established Central Material Recovery Facility (CMRF) uses a low-maintenance diesel-powered machine with liquid-removing compactor and conveyor-powered loading system designed for low-cost operation, only requiring minimal electric power. Having reduced the volume of landfill garbage by almost 80% through the use of this machine, the facility helps prolong the life span of controlled dumpsites. At the same time, this innovation offers a lucrative sustainable livelihood means since the machine-granulated waste materials from the CMRF are feasible for processing and selling as usable by-products such as plant fertilizer and bricks for construction.
