Updating of the Master Plan on Water Resources Management in Two (2) Selected River Basins (Pampanga River Basin and Tigum Aganan River Basin) Phase 1 : Final Report
The Master Plan Study on Water Resources Management spearheaded by
the National Water Resources Board and undertaken under the Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was completed in August 1998. The
study identified 9 areas which would encounter water constraint in the near future.
Nine cities include Baguio City, Angeles City, Metro Manila, Iloilo City, Bacolod
City, Metro Cebu, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City and Zamboanga City. The
Study was formulated and proposed water resources development plan adopting
the water demand corresponding to the projected socio-economic conditions. One
of the recommendations is to have a periodic review of the Master Plan Study.
In order to respond for a more effective integrated approach in the development and management of water resources such as efficient allocation of our scarce water resources, there is a strong need to review and update the information on existing supply and projected demand. Moreover, there are major changes in the priority of the government towards water resources development that will necessitate the Master Plan updating.
