Subproject Completion Report: Pulangui Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject
Operational problems coupled with those brought about by nature such as the prolonged drought that occurred in 1998 and the plantation fires hampered the accomplishment of targets of the Subproject’s Comprehensive Site Development (CSD). Permission granted by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) that allowed Project implementation until June 30, 2003 addressed the problem on delays.
The creation of the Subproject Site Management Office (SUSIMO) on the other hand played a significant role in the attainment of the goals and objectives of the Project as it supervised its implementation on the ground.
In terms of employment and increase in income, the Subproject has generated a total of 713,353 man days which in turn resulted in raising the average annual income of participants from PHP 42,980.08 to PHP 53,581.67.
Infrastructure has been a most welcome component of the project for the farm-to-market road, the bridge and spillway was turned over to the communities and the local government units.
