Subproject Completion Report: Malitubog-Maridagao Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject

The Malitubog-Maridagao Watershed Rehabilitation Subproject is located in Cotabato, within Barangay Puting Bato in Banisilan and Sitio Gawasan in Barangay Bentanagan. The Subproject is essential to both the Malitubog-Maridagao Watershed and the Mal-Mar Dam Irrigation Project for the environmental, agricultural and industrial benefits.

With a Comprehensive Site Development (CSD) budget of PHP 42.7M, rehabilitation target of 2,377 ha. was accomplished by the Kitubod Datusapalao Reforestation Project Association, Inc. (KIDAREPAI) for open, denuded areas, slopes as well as residual forest and along creeks and stream banks. This accomplishment despite limitations on the part of the PO members in managerial capability.

Involvement in CSD activities that generated about 339,926 man days improved the PO members’ earning capacity from PHP 25,052.32 to PHP 37,578.48 and afforded them to engage in other livelihood projects as well as to send their children to good learning institutions in Midsayap and Kabacan. Improvement in living status is also evident in the acquisition of appliances and renovation/construction of houses of members.

The farm-to-market road as an infrastructure support to livelihood is another benefit as it facilitates ease in transporting their agricultural produce to places of commerce and in bringing about mobility for members.
