A Proposed DENR Road Map for Replicating and Scaling Up of Governance-Oriented Integrated Ecosystems Management

This report focuses on how to sustain IEM implementation in the four ENRMP-supported sites, replicate best practices in existing and new initiatives based on lessons learned, and scale up or expand IEMconsistent approaches. It provides a brief assessment of the IEM processes as they are implemented in the pilot sites as well as a summary of lessons from the pilots while injecting insights from previous projects and trends of ongoing ENR and/or multi-sectoral development programs.

Guide for Planning and Conducting Process Documentation in the IEM Framework and LGU ENR Planning and Implementation (Draft)

This guide is intended as a handy and concise material to help facilitate process documentation in the field. It comes ahead of a more detailed process documentation manual that has been drafted through the NPS ENRM Project.

The Integrated Ecosystem Management Framework of Ligawasan Marsh as Wetlands Biodiversity Reserve

The framework provides an overall strategic direction for the management, development, and conservation of the natural and cultural resources within the marsh so that the local communities can continue to benefit from the wetland's resources. It also provides opportunities for the communities and local stakeholders to share responsibilities for the integrated ecosystem management of the area.

Province-led Integrated Ecosystem Management: The Case of Bago River Watershed in Negros Occidental: an IEM story

Covering portions of the two protected areas (MKNP and NNNP), the watershed is part of the Western Visayas Biogeographic Zone and hosts a rich array of plant and animal species. These biodiversity resources have varied actual and potential uses, such as food, fiber, medicine, construction materials, handicrafts, furniture, and fuelwood, among others. The watershed irrigates 13,277 hectares of rice farms and 500 hectares of sugarcane plantations. It serves as source of domestic water for most households in the province and supports seven water bottling companies.

Sustaining Productivity of the Hillsides of Negros Island Through Organic Farming : an IEM story

There is one thing different in the Benejewan ISF Farmers Association (BISFFA), from Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, as compared to other upland farmers in the Philippines. While others are dependent on harvesting of and thriving on the remaining natural forests, BISFFA has taken on the challenge of making idle uplands productive over the long term. While others produce at the cost of resources and the environment, the BISSFA members have made the land productive while keeping it sustainable. BISSFA does this through organic agriculture.

Libmanan-Pulantuna Watershed: Replicating Integrated Ecosystem Management for Socioeconomic Development: an IEM Story

The Libmanan-Pulantuna Watershed Management Project (LPWMP) is one of the four pilot sites for Integrated Ecosystems Management (IEM) under the National Program Support for Environment and Natural Resources Management Project (NPS ENRMP), funded by a grant from the World Bank-Global Environment Facility (WB-GEF). After five years of project implementation from 2008 to 2012, the pilot site has emerged as a good example of replication and scaling up of IEM from the Libmanan-Pulantuna Watershed to the adjacent Albay Tres Quinale “A” Watershed, then the rest of the Bicol River Basin.

National Program Support for Environment and Natural Resources Management Project (NPS-ENRMP): Project Completion Report

The NPS-ENRMP’s overall development objective is to assist the DENR to improve efficiency and effectiveness in its service delivery. Specifically, the NPS-ENRMP aims to strengthen the allocative efficiency of DENR’s limited budget resources through better prioritization and partnership arrangements facilitating scaling-up, and through better linking of plans and budgets.
